Rosemont School “Read Your Own Adventure” Read-a-thon

Rosemont School is starting our very first Read-a-thon! This 10-day reading challenge encourages students to grow their love of books while supporting the many community-building events organized by the Rosemont Fundraising Society. Let’s turn pages into possibility!

🌟 How the Read-a-thon Works

1️ Find sponsors

Students find sponsors (people who can donate) such as family, friends, neighbours, and relatives.

Sponsors can donate per minute read, per day reading, or give a one-time donation.

Track your sponsors on the Sponsor Log form.

2️ Read and track minutes

From Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 19, students read as much as they can outside of school hours.

All reading counts, including:

·       Independent reading

·       Reading to someone else

·       Being read to

·       Audiobooks (listening time counts!)

Whether it’s a comic, a chapter book, or a bedtime story — it all adds up.

Students record their daily reading minutes on the Reading Log.

A parent/guardian initials each day to confirm the total.

3️ Collect donations and return completed Log sheets

At the end of the 10 days:

·       Total your reading minutes and calculate your sponsor donation amounts

·       Remind your sponsors to donate (see below on How to Submit Donations)

·       Return the completed Reading Log, and Sponsor log forms to class by Tuesday, April 21 (morning)

4️ Win!

In each class, the teacher will award gold, silver and bronze trophies and prizes for the most minutes read.

First place also wins a $20 gift card. Second place wins a $10 gift card. Both prizes are generously donated by Pages, a local bookstore in Kensington.

If there is a tie, we will break the tie with a game of rock-paper-scissors in class.

💳 How to Submit Donations

  1. We encourage e-transfer donations for safety and convenience to:
    [email protected]
In the message include: “<Student first name and last initial>, <Teacher Last Name>, Read-a-thon”
  2. Cash or cheque made out to “Rosemont Fundraising Society” may also be submitted to the main office in a sealed envelope labeled with: Student name, Parent/guardian name, and Teacher name.

️ Thank you!

Thank you for supporting literacy, community, and the many events that make Rosemont such a special place for our students.

Let’s see how many pages we can turn in ten days.
Happy Reading!
